When we talk matchups, the Paul Pierce/LeBron James slugfest rarely gets
mentioned, and it’s odd. The two have matched up in four of the past five
postseasons, and given they are playing the same position with very similar
roles on their respective teams, you’d think the NBA fanbase would take
better notice. Instead, we’re asking for Kobe vs. LeBron in the Finals or
checking the calendar for when Deron Williams and Chris Paul match up again.

當我們講到對決，PP vs LBJ鮮少被人提起，這很怪。這兩人在過去五年季後賽中

Yet the best one-on-one battles happen in the playoffs, and these two small
forwards have shed enough blood against each other to make a movie.

But in Game 1 of this year’s Eastern Conference Finals, the Truth shot
5-for-18 and was nonexistent for most of the night. He played better in the
second game (21 points), but ultimately fouled out before he could inflict
any memorable damage on Miami and James. LeBron has been a monster, and
dropped 32 and 13 in Game 1.

Boston is down 2-0, and it doesn’t take a genius to know they better win
both games at home. Rajon Rondo won’t be scoring 44 points again any time
soon, so it’s going to fall on Pierce’s head. He HAS to outplay LeBron for
long stretches in New England, or else this series will be over before we get
a defining moment.

波士頓系列賽落後兩場，用屁股想也知道接下來兩場主場比賽一定都要贏。Rondo
最近應該不會再得個44分，所以得分的重任將落在PP的身上。他必須表現的比LBJ
更好，不然這系列賽就將結束。

But if anyone is able and willing to rise to the occasion against the
toughest matchup in the league, it’s Pierce. He’s done it over and over
again in the playoffs for the Celtics. With that, here are the top five best
playoff performances of his career.

不過，如果有任何人有能力且也願意在最強硬的對抗中崛起，那絕對是PP。他在
季後賽為C's一再的做到。以下就是他(截至目前為止)生涯五大季後賽表現。



5. 2008 NBA Finals, Game 5 at L.A. Lakers
Celtics lose 103-98
Pierce: 38 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists
Boston might’ve lost this game, but you wouldn’t have known it looking at
Pierce. This was probably the weirdest Finals game I’ve ever seen. No one
really wanted to win. Down 3-1, the Lakers knew it was over, and played in
somewhat of a trance after the first quarter. And the Celtics knew they were
going home for Games 6 and 7. Outside of Pierce absolutely destroying Kobe,
Luke Walton, Vlad Ramanovic and everyone else in white, it was a relatively
boring night.

BOSTON或許會輸掉這場比賽，但你不會在PP身上感覺到放棄。這大概是我看過最奇

4. 2012 First Round, Game 2 at Atlanta
Celtics win 87-80
Pierce: 36 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists
No Rajon Rondo. No Ray Allen. Down 1-0 on the road, Boston should’ve lost
this game. Too bad Pierce started almost right from the tip, scoring within
mere seconds from the opening jump, and never letting up. “I have a lot of
experience, a lot of confidence from being in those moments,” Pierce said
afterwards. “You believe in yourself, your coach believes in you, your team
believes in you, it’s a combination of all those things.” He capped it all
off by Tebow-ing at center court.

既無Rondo也無Ray。在客場以1比0落後，波士頓本該輸掉這場比賽。可惜PP從跳球
之後開始發威，跳球後馬上就得分，然後從未停止。 "我經驗豐富，且在這種時刻

3. 2002 Conference Finals, Game 3 vs. New Jersey
Celtics win 94-90
Pierce: 28 points, 19 in the fourth quarter
The Truth has had higher scoring games in the playoffs – take for instance
the 40 he dropped on Indiana (plus 21-for-21 from the line) in Game 1 of the
2003 Playoffs – but none of them will be remembered quite like this game
will be. Boston came home tied at a game a piece with New Jersey in the
Eastern Conference Finals, but found themselves down 21 points before Pierce
exploded. It took a tongue lashing from Antoine Walker, but in crunch time,
Pierce lit the crowd on fire by continuously driving to the basket – over
and over again – on his way to 19 points in the fourth quarter of one of the
greatest comebacks in NBA history. I wasn’t even a Celtic fan, but living in
Boston at the time, I felt like one after this.

在季後賽，PP還有更高的得分場次，比如說2003年對溜馬，他拿了40分，且罰球21投
21中。但沒有任何一場比賽會比這場更令人難忘。波士頓回到主場且試著在系列賽取
得領先，然而在PP爆發之前卻輸了21分。這讓Walker不爽的對著PP大罵，但在關鍵時
刻，PP用一次又一次的切入讓球迷陷入瘋狂。他在第四節得了19分，且成就了NBA史上
最偉大的逆轉秀之一。我本非C's的球迷，但那時居住在波士頓，我也投誠了。



2. 2002 First Round, Game 5 vs. Philadelphia
Celtics win 120-87
Pierce: 46 points, 8-for-10 from deep
Everything came together in this one for the Truth. It was his first playoff
series. It was a do-or-die Game 5. The 76ers had come from down 2-0 to win
the next two in Philly. Allen Iverson was at the height of his popularity,
having come off a trip to the Finals and a MVP. I was a big Sixer fan at the
time, and still remember watching this game at a friend’s house, doing
whatever I could to get luck on my side. My attempts were futile. Pierce
literally couldn’t miss, scoring 29 of his 46 in the first half, and it was
a colossal blowout from the start. Philly never had a chance, and I could
only sit on a couch, miserable. For me, this was Pierce’s coming out party.
Iverson was considered one of the two or three best players in the league at
the time, and the Celtics – behind the Truth – had taken him out in the
first round. For me, that meant something.

對真理而言，每件事都發生在2002。第一輪對費城是PP初次打季後賽。這場是G5驟死
戰。AI正處於生涯最高峰。那時的我本是七六人迷，且還記得當時的我在朋友家觀看
比賽，做著每件能給七六人帶來好運的事。我的嘗試失敗了。PP根本沒有投不進的球
，在上半場就已經得了29分。費城根本沒有任何機會，我只能悲傷的坐在沙發上。對
我而言，這場比賽是PP準備震撼世人的代表作。當時的AI是聯盟前三優異的球員，而
C's在真理的帶領下，將AI掃地出門。這對我來說也意味著什麼。



1. 2008 Semifinals, Game 7 vs. Cleveland
Celtics win 97-92
Pierce: 41 points, 4-for-6 from deep
If you don’t know the story of this one, I’m swinging by to take your NBA
fan card. Boston’s 2008 championship run nearly came to a screaming halt in
the second round of the playoffs because they couldn’t stop LeBron (45
points, but oh right… he’s not clutch right?). If it wasn’t for the best
performance of Pierce’s career in one of the most important games, this
current Celtic team would have zero championships. And we might’ve actually
seen Kobe vs. LeBron in the Finals.



如果你不知道這場比賽的意義，我會把你的NBA球迷卡拿走。波士頓2008年的總冠軍
之路差一點就要在第二輪結束，因為他們擋不住LBJ。如果這場不是PP生涯裡(截至目
前為止)最重要的比賽中最好的表現，現在的C's成員根本不會有冠軍戒指。

而且我們還可能真的會在總冠軍賽看到Kobe跟LBJ對決。
