LAMPARD: THEY GIVE EVERYTHING

Lampard scored twice in the 7-0, the first from the penalty spot, the
second with a beautifully-judged touch onto a Sam Hutchinson cross.
Sadly that is a supply line from which he will not benefit again following
the young defender's retirement through injury.
'It is a huge disappointment for everybody but obviously more for Hutch
than everyone else,' says the vice-captain. 'He was a very dedicated,
professional lad who had good quality and was certain to make the grade at
Chelsea or wherever else he would have played.
'There is barely a worse thing in football than something like that
happening, particularly with such a good lad who worked so hard.

'Some kids I have seen these days don't work hard and don't really get to
grips with what it takes to be a professional, but Hutch did all the right
things and that is why it is especially unfortunate.'
Lampard believes the 21-year-old's professional attitude will still stand
him in good stead for the future.
'If the club help him, which I understand they are, let's hope he can stay
at Chelsea, get his coaching ideas, work with the young players and maybe
he can become a big manager. It has happened before.
'He certainly has the right personality to work at the club and seeing the
hard way like he has through all this may give him a strength of character
which others may not have.'
