Has Roman's mind done a dramatic U-turn?
According to several reports this morning, Mr.A was set to spend ￡100million
in the January window but failed with a ￡25.6m bid for Belgian wonderkid
Romelu Lukaku.

This is all the more interesting as Chelsea smashed the British transfer
record with a ￡50m move swoop for Fernando Torres and splashed out a further

But according to the press this morning, Abramovich also gave the green light
to a sign Lukaku, 17, from under the noses of Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Anderlecht general manager Herman Van Holsbeek confirmed: 'Chelsea wanted
Lukaku but after consultation with the player and his agent we declined their
offer.'

I think that we are definitely on the lookout for a new hitman, with Drogba

of first-team football is guaranteed, which Chelsea probably wouldn't do?

And Lukaku is one of the hottest talents around, with 35 goals in 87 games
for Anderlecht.
Lukaku himself also confirmed he'd like to move to England. 'I'm flattered to
be compared to a great striker like Didier but I insist on being my own
player.

'My style is best suited to the English Premier League, so a move to England
is more likely than a switch to Spain or anywhere else in Europe.'

So, my questions are this. Firstly, if we did bid for Lukaku in January,
Roman was prepared to outlay a cool 100m - has his mindset of the silly
spending days being over changed? Is he ready to dip into his pockets more to
ensure Chelsea get back where we belong after this poor season?
Secondly, is Lukaku the one for us? Strong, powerful young kid, many whom
compare him to Drogba, but would you welcome him? Untested in Premiership -
is he the new Drogba? If so, can we play him and Torres together if he did
come?

has a lot of legs indeed.
