梅雷萊斯從利物浦轉會切爾西讓許多利物浦球迷都非常不理解，畢竟他在利物浦
第一個賽季就以出色的表現征服了整個安菲爾德，這名葡萄牙中場今日披露，其實他
並不打算離開利物浦，是利物浦背信棄義逼他轉會的。
梅雷萊斯在轉會市場關閉最後一刻以1200萬鎊的身價加盟切爾西，這樁轉會不但
出乎所有球迷的意料，連梅雷萊斯當初也沒有想到利物浦會打算賣掉自己，有消息稱
利物浦不肯兌現給梅雷萊斯表現好就加薪的承諾才讓雙方一拍兩散，但梅雷萊斯不肯
挑明：“我所能說的是利物浦給我的一個許諾沒有兌現，那不是唯一要責怪的事情，
但那也是為什麼利物浦球迷不理解我為什麼要離隊的原因。利物浦要求我遞上轉會申
請，因此那是平常的。”
也有消息指這是因為梅雷萊斯和達格利什之間出現了矛盾，這名切爾西新人也不
肯解釋，只肯承認當他聽到利物浦要賣掉他時很吃驚：“當我知道利物浦要賣掉我時
我有點吃驚，當時沒有任何跡象，我有點吃驚，但現在我會把注意力放在現在和未來
和切爾西在一起。”
實際上，梅雷萊斯也很高興可以加盟切爾西，因為他和博阿斯是舊相識：“當切
爾西顯示對我的興趣時，那就像是一個黃金機會，我現在在這裡了，這是一段新的旅
程，我想要在這裡表現出色，我曾在波爾圖和博阿斯共事一個月，因此我覺得這裡和

事實上，梅雷萊斯幾乎馬上就融進了切爾西，上週末正是他精準的長傳幫助斯圖
里奇鎖定勝局，但才踢了一年英超的梅雷萊斯仍不肯定他已經完全適應：“我已經適
應了英超一年，但這是兩個不同的俱樂部和不同的風格，我們追逐的是不同的比賽，
我只是希望我可以在切爾西做到。”

MEIRELES: CHELSEA FITS THE BILL

Raul Meireles has explained the opportunity of working once more with
Andre Villas-Boas and competing in top competitions persuaded him to
exchange Merseyside for London on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder, who made his debut at Sunderland on Saturday, became our
last summer signing when he signed shortly before the 11pm cut-off point
on August 31, reuniting him with the manager that had sold him to
Liverpool a year earlier.
'I worked under Andre for one month at Porto and felt we had the same
mentality, the desire to win trophies, to win competitions and I feel with
Andre we can do that,' said the Portuguese international. 'It wasn't hard
to be convinced to come to a great club like Chelsea, and one month was
enough to see how he works and his desire to win things.
'I was aware that Liverpool wanted to sell me in the summer which was a
bit surprising to me and when the opportunity came and Chelsea showed
interest it was like a golden opportunity and I was very happy to come and
join Chelsea.
'I had one year to adapt in the Premier League but it is two different
clubs and different styles. We chase different competitions and I just
hope I can achieve what we want here at Chelsea. It is a new adventure and
I want to do well here at Chelsea.'
The manager added his reasons for wanting the player, and why he had
allowed him to leave Porto last season.
'When I arrived at Porto he was already five years in Porto and had won a
treble championship and two cups. He felt it was time for him to move so
we had a conversation when he arrived back from the World Cup and we
decided it was time to part company,' he said.
'There was no pushing away of a player of his talent but there was a
common interest to find a solution and that's what happened when he joined
Liverpool.
'Regarding what he adds Raul is a versatile player, you saw him in the
holding position against Sunderland, and he makes himself available to
receive the ball and to spread the game.
'He can play in different positions of midfield with the same efficiency
and that's one of the reasons we went for him. At 28 he is a player that
can still add to our squad and that's why we got him. I am surprised we
got him, but we got him.'
