北京時間週四凌晨，切爾西將在客場挑戰歐冠對手瓦倫西亞。當藍軍球員抵達瓦
倫西亞機場時，仍然有大批本地球迷歡迎馬塔的到來。這位2350萬英鎊先生表示，在
這場比賽中，即使自己進球也不會進行慶祝。
“能夠在轉會後這麼快就回到瓦倫西亞比賽，對我來說非常特別。”馬塔對《每
日星報》記者說，
“當然，我的優先目標是幫助切爾西取勝，但我會非常尊重瓦倫西
亞的球迷。如果進球了，我不會慶祝。”馬塔表示，自己在瓦倫西亞度過了難忘的四
年時光，很多隊友都是他的好朋友並且保持聯繫。
“當然，在場上我還是會用盡全力
的。”
自從以2350萬鎊的高身價轉會切爾西以來，馬塔的表現很搶眼，他在5場比賽中
已經射入了兩球。相比在瓦倫西亞出場129次射入33球的記錄，馬塔似乎有了長足的
進步。在本場歐冠賽事的例行新聞發佈會上，博阿斯特意帶著馬塔參加。在會上，馬
塔讚揚了博阿斯對自己的使用方式。
“很幸運，我能在不同的位置踢球，這讓我能夠按照自己的方式去適應比賽。”
《衛報》認為，隨著對英超理解的加深，馬塔在切爾西的作用將堪比曼城的席爾瓦，
以及熱刺的莫德里奇。

Juan Mata, on the eve of what could be his first match against his former
club, has cause to recall the night he took his bow in the Champions
League.
For most people involved or watching a final group stage game between
Chelsea and Valencia at Stamford Bridge in December 2007 it was an
extremely unremarkable and almost meaningless 0-0 draw. The Blues were
already guaranteed top spot and Valencia were ending a poor campaign that
left them bottom.
It was however a momentous day for a then 19-year-old Mata when he came on
in the 74th minute, having joined the club from the Real Madrid youth
set-up for the start of the season.
'That was my first game in the Champions League, now four years later I am
going to play for Chelsea against Valencia,' Mata noted prior to training
in the Mestalla on a very warm Tuesday evening, having received just as
warm a reception from a crowd of locals at Valencia airport.

'But that happens in football and the feeling is totally different to
then.'
If back four years ago he was a young player trying to make an impression,
this week he returns to Spain as multi-million pound summer transfer and
one of the brightest players in Chelsea's season so far.
'It will be strange to be in a different changing room,' he admits,
'that
will make it a special game and I know what the atmosphere is like in the
Mestalla whenValencia play a Champions League game.
'I don't know yet if I will find it difficult, tomorrow I will find out,
but I am going to focus on helping my team to win. I will say hello to all
my old team-mates before the game but at kick-off, that is when friendship
ends. After the game it will be different but during it every player must
focus on helping his team to win.'
Andre Villas-Boas has not asked Mata for any special reports on the
Valencia team according to the player. This week's opposition are no
unknown quantity on the European stage.
'The manger knows Valencia pretty well. He knows they are a strong team,
especially when playing at home as could be seen recently when they played
against Barcelona and drew. They press a lot all over the pitch and in the
midfield they have very skilful players who are also very fast.
'He knows that they will be a great threat, especially after their first
game when they drew in Genk. In the Champions League you have to try to
get three points and Valencia will be trying that tomorrow. They will be
dangerous and tomorrow will be a very difficult game.
'I wish that both teams go through to the next stage but I hope Chelsea
win the game. A player has to give his best for his team to win a game and
that is what I am going to do tomorrow.'
