Could not prevent goal
Cech and his back four hold the best defensive record in the league but, in a
tight affair, the Czech goalkeeper didn't much to save until Delph's smart
finish proved too much for him.

Took centre stage in the reverse fixture as he scored the winning goal but,
in a game filled with controversy, the goal came down his side. Was steady at
the back for the most part, however.

Found himself in some great positions in the first half and helped stretch
the play for his side. Looked equally as strong at the back, stopping play
from crosses. Ashley Cole has very little chance of displacing the Spaniard.

Disgraceful tackle
Brought down after attempting to evade the last line of defence but Bennett's
foul only warranted a yellow. Slow on the ball and caught out in possession
when Villa had momentum. Sent off late on.

Thought he had scored
Must have thought he had scored his first goal for the club from a corner but
officials ruled it out for handball, although that might have been a little
harsh. Strong in the interception and read play well.

Unlucky to be shown second yellow
Was one of three changes in the side and supplied his team their first chance
on goal with a speculative long-range strike. Had a lot of tracking back to
do and was sent off for a second yellow.

Found himself in a number of positions to shoot but didn't make the most of
his chance from a corner. Later brought off for Schurrle and this wasn't his
best day.

dead-ball opportunities. His second, from a free kick, trickled agonisingly

Returned to the line-up after injury prior to their Spurs victory and had a
couple of chances but didn't have the pace to break free at times and those
were wasted. Had five shots on goal, with none of them on target. Later
