The Chou laboratory in Department of Biochemistry at the University of Utah
is seeking one or two highly motivated postdoctoral researchers. We focus on
using synthetic protein engineering to create peptide or protein therapeutics
to understand their biological effects in human disease and improve clinical
treatment. Currently, we are tackling type 1 diabetes (T1D), an autoimmune
disease in which the pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone that enables
glucose uptake from blood. By developing novel insulin and glucagon analogues,
we hope to maintain normal blood glucose levels in type 1 diabetic patients.
A successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry,
pharmaceutics or related fields with experiences in synthetic organic
chemistry. Candidates with strong background and research experience in both
organic synthesis and chemical biology are preferred.
Candidates please send a letter that describes your scientific interest and
research experience, together with your CV, list of publications and the
