Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose scored 36 points, but at least one Trail
Blazer wasn't impressed by his play on the other end of the floor in
Portland's 109-103 victory on Monday.

Batum told the Oregonian that Rose didn't have an
answer for Andre Miller, who finished with 27 points and 11 assists.
"We know that Derrick Rose is a good offensive player," Batum said, according
to the paper. "But you have to play defense, too. He can't guard Dre. You
gotta play defense. He can't play defense, so that's why we put Dre inside
and try to attack him. He did a great job. Had [27 points] and 11 [assists]
tonight."
By Tuesday afternoon,
Batum took to Twitter to refute the criticism: "I'm
sorry for the D.Rose fans and bulls fans, but I never said that he can't play
defense, NEVER...trust me," he tweeted.
Rose smiled when asked about Batum's comments before Tuesday's practice in
Salt Lake City.
"Oh man, he threw me under the bus, didn't he?" Rose said. "But no, man.
Everybody's got their opinion, but I know I can play defense, man. So it is
what it is.
"It doesn't get me upset at all. That's his opinion. Everybody's got their
own opinion."
Statistically, the Bulls are among the best defensive teams in the NBA. They
are tied with the Miami Heat in lowest opponent field-goal percentage and are
third in the NBA with 92.1 points allowed per game.
After holding opponents to under 100 points in 13 straight games, the Bulls
allowed 101 points to Golden State on Saturday and 109 to Portland, both
losses.
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said his is happy with the improvement in Rose's
defense this season.
"I watch him all year so I know the progress that he makes," Thibodeau said.
"I don't really care what other people say.
"Our defense based on that game was poor. But I would say our defense overall
for the year has been good. Not great, good. And we've got a lot of room to
improve and I think Derrick's been very good all year long."
Rose, who averages 24.6 points a game and 8.2 assists, will start for the
Eastern Conference in the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 20.
