jejuni, E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Bloody
diarrhea and vomiting occur in a varying proportion of patients infected with
these pathogens. These illnesses usually resolve within 2 to 7 days.
Nontyphoidal Salmonella is the most common bacterial cause of reported
foodborne outbreaks in the United States.[1,2] The median incubation period
is 6 to 48 hours.
