據說是美國軍醫開始使用雙蛇杖的
可能是誤用
不過另一個說法是雙蛇杖代表得是"使者"，表明"不可以攻擊軍醫"的意思
但總之非軍醫體系的醫院使用雙蛇杖一定是誤用

蛇杖出自於希臘神話
單蛇杖是Asclepius的象徵
雙蛇杖則是Hermes的象徵
說成來自銅蛇，則是穿鑿附會的說法
