講題主題: Pitch Processing in Absolute-Pitch Musicians: Mechanisms and Linguistic Influences 時間: 98.4.28 (星期二)下午7:00~9:00 地點: 國立政治大學 綜合院館北棟270202教室 演講學者: Dr. I-Hui Hsieh Department of Cognitive Sciences, University of California-Irvine 演講摘要: Three studies investigated vocal-motor and spectrotemporal mechanisms in absolute-pitch (AP) processing and provide evidence for a form of language- selective interference with pitch memory. The first study showed that AP, and surprisingly, control (non-AP) musicians can accurately voice isolated musical pitches, although the latter group failed to spectrally-adjust to target-note frequency. Findings support existence of two memory retrieval systems for musical pitch. The second study examined the effect of temporal integration on AP identification. Performance monotonically increased up to the longest duration tested (1000ms) with a minimum of 4 periods of a pure tone sufficient for AP identification. An autocorrelation model of pitch extraction predicted several trends in the data and suggested that observers do not make optimal use of available periodicity information in very brief tones. The last study showed that voiced Solfege syllables digitally shifted to precisely map onto a mismatched musical note can selectively interfere with pitch identification by some but not other AP musicians. Interference diminishes as the stimulus spectrum is increasingly lowpass filtered to remove its broadband speech features. These findings support recent theories of AP encoding that propose an intrinsic association between linguistic cues and stored pitch representations in accessing musical pitch from long-term memory. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.160.180.50
