剛好最近有人問我Rich Hill會不會回來投的和過去好, 我回說

Now, what has this to do with Rich Hill? They work
differently. If Burnette is your strikeout specialist with
great stuffs, Cook is your defense-reliant groundballer
with one great stuff (the sinker). Hill, unfortunately,
comes to the end of both side.
Hill is a typical curveball strikeout pitcher who was
really strong his first two complete years with the Cubs.
He doesn't rely on control as Cook, but Hill definitely
needed good defense to help him out.
He gives up a lot of flyballs and hits. He can get out of
trouble quickly when his stuff is on. But he lost his
control last year, and never pitched again in the big since
May 2008. He could still strike out batters last I saw him,
but with walks and walks then hits, Hill lost confidence.
投不好和受傷無關. 我們教練團沒有蠢到整個春季都看不出來Hill隱瞞傷勢
(如果他是因為受傷水準下降). 可能有點像"投球失億". 受傷只是副作用.
當然, 如果金鶯教練團多幫點忙... 我接下來來回:
I don't know if it's because Hill hit a wall or not, that
he found out he can't progress and outmatch batters, as the
league figured him out, or is it plain fatigue after two
long seasons. But we should expect Hill needs time to
adjust to a new environment, the AL, even after he figured
out what's wrong with himself.
He's not going to become the old no.3 on the Cubs staff,
but give him a season to work through things, maybe the O's
coaching staff and turn it around.
I won't call Hill an impact player, though.
