Relief pitcher Joel Zumaya avoided arbitration Friday by signing a one-year $1.4 million contract with reliever Joel Zumaya, a raise of $485,000. Now, of course, all he has to do is stay healthy. But that's not been easy for him. On the disabled list six times in the last four years, Zumaya hopes to fully bounce back this season from a broken bone in his right elbow that ended his season in June. Starting in 2007, he's also been on the DL for a finger strain and multiple problems. Zumaya was 2-1 with a 2.58 ERA and one save in 31 games last year before getting hurt. His 38 1/3 innings were the most he's thrown in a season for the Tigers since 2006. His signing leaves pitcher Armando Galarraga as the only arbitration- eligible Tiger. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 125.227.138.3
