Crew chief Ted Barrett explains questionable play, defends call on
controversial error in Tigers' win

DETROIT -- Boston outfielder Daniel Nava is adamant he made the catch.
Third-base umpire Ted Barrett, the crew chief, is certain he didn't. Here's
why:

"To have a catch, you have to have complete control and voluntary release,"
Barrett said. "Mike (DiMuro) had him with control, but did not have the 
voluntary release."

"要確實接捕的話，你必須要完全掌握住球，並且"自願"的放開(傳球或故意漏掉)，"

Barrett explained the umpires' reasoning behind call after the game to a pool
reporter.

"When he flipped the ball out of his glove, he never got it into his hand,"
Barrett said. "That's not voluntary release."

"當Nava把球拿出來的時候，他從來沒有讓球到另一手上，"
"所以不是個"自願性"的放球。"

Barrett said he watched video replay after the game and stood by the 
decision, saying Nava "never got the ball into his hand."
"Therefore there was no voluntary release and no catch," he said

比賽完，裁判長Barrett大人在看完重播之後，依然支持原本的判決
"沒有自願性放球，所以也沒有確實接捕。"

裁判應該是引用這部分吧，只是要怎麼證明"自願且有意"嘛，恩，就靠自由心證囉，
總之我們是賺到了。
