Another datapoint:
installed DF again, didn't select to install the bootblocks (skip this step
option in the installer), got to the boot manager
F1 - ???
F2 - FreeBSD
choose F2, which booted 5.2 without a problem, and now BTX hangs itself up
with DF installed.
