The 5.x > boot1/boot2/loader code is not compatible with the DFly boot1/boot2/loader > code because our partition table is larger. 'boot0' (the master boot > record) should always be compatible. For the record, using the same pre-existing partition (which was originally partitioned from within Windows XP and not formatted or assigned a drive letter) I can also install FreeBSD 4.10 and boot to it. The loader is the 0.8 version which is really FreeBSD's 4.10. So both 4.10 and 5.2 boot completely to a partition created in Windows XP. I will redo the partition using fdisk from the DF snapshot to see if it is being very picky about that. -- Jeroen Ruigrok van der Werven <asmodai(at)wxs.nl> / asmodai / kita no mono Free Tibet! http://www.savetibet.org/ | http://www.tibet.nu/ http://www.tendra.org/ | http://www.in-nomine.org/ To the dull mind nature is leaden.
