I did that a while with subversion and commit emails for tendra, the emails become quite tedious when doing large changes. Not to mention that since not everybody has incredibly fast access to the 'net yet (Brasil's ADSL for example is nowhere near US or European standards yet) downloading 'big' emails gets really annoying.
