No, I don't think type-munging for compatibility will work. We should stick to the proper types. The ultimate solution to this sort of thing, e.g. for sysctls, would be to pass data in and out using ascii strings, but doing so would probably break a lot of pkgsrc and require us to implement dragonfly-specific ports instead of snarfing off the other BSD's ABIs. -Matt
