It's all about Julie...(not that Julie/or Lady Heather in the O.C./or CSI) Bad Boy, Bad Boy, What's Susan Gonna Do? Sure, the show's called Desperate Housewives, but where would the women of Wisteria Lane really be without their male counterparts? Think about it. At the end of season one, producers killed off Bree's hubby, Rex (Steven Culp), and gave Jesse Metcalfe, well, plenty of time off to pursue his movie career. What was the result? A somewhat disappointing season two that critics called a "creative slump." Okay, so maybe those leading men exits aren't completely to blame for the sophomore sag, but showrunner Marc Cherry isn't taking any chances, bringing Mr. Metcalfe back into the fold and recruiting the sexy Josh Henderson to play Edie Britt's nephew Austin. Josh, who honed his acting chops on FX's short-lived but critically acclaimed Over There last season, tells me he couldn't be more thrilled to score the gig--and not just because, thanks to that first Desperate paycheck, he called me from the Hummer dealership where he was contemplating the purchase of his long-coveted dream car. "This is a role I can have fun with," he tells me. "I can relax and just enjoy creating this character. Over There was so hard-core. I really had to take myself to a different place, because of how intense the show was." And, as is usually the case on Wisteria Lane, Josh's character is not what he seems. "[Austin] is kind of a bad boy, this darker kind of drinker, smoker," Josh says. "But he's also fun and smart and funny. And there's also a little bit of mystery about him. They're not telling me much right now. It's, like, every week, I learn something new about Austin." One thing we do know? Susan might not be so thrilled with the new bad boy in town, because there will be, apparently, a little romance between Austin and Julie, Andrea Bowen's character. "I believe I'm going to be having a pretty good storyline with her," Josh tells me. And despite James Denton's former edict that "no one with a penis is safe," Josh seems to be in the clear. "I come in on episode two, and I think I'm guaranteed to be around for at least 15," he says. "After that, I don't know what will happen, but Austin is definitely a character they're really excited about, and I know he's going to be stirring a lot of things up with everyone on Wisteria Lane." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.62.93.107
