The Diamondbacks have signed second-rounder Anthony Meo for $625,000. MLB's
recommendation for his No. 63 draft slot was $579,600.
One of just four Coastal Carolina players ever to be drafted as high as the
second round, Meo went 32-7, 2.52 with 277 strikeouts in 282 innings over
three seasons with the Chanticleers. The righthander has a quick arm that
delivers consistent 92-94 mph heat and a breaking ball that can be a
strikeout pitch at times.
