The first offer from the Dodgers to Adrian Beltre came in at 3 years,
$37 million, according to sources close to the negotiations.
It spells out this way:
$10 million for 2005, $12 million in 2006, and $15 million in 2007.
Not a bad offer, really, for a player with only one superstar
year under his belt. In fact, he might like the idea of being
a free agent again at the age of 28. Scot Boras is apparently
holding out for 5 years at $75 million. Though a 5 year contract
isn't out of the question, $15 million per season is a bit high.
