In Taiwan when you ask someone if this outboard is good enough for produce electronics stuff, there's always someone like "arh...ok, but I prefer bla bla bla..." or "forget about that! You should buy bla bla bla..." Likewise, when I say "ok that's enough for me to produce a decent tune" or "Mmm... I can use that to make some good sounds" there's always some so- called "veterans" who's like "hahaha... am I a fool to buy a Neve, TubeTech bla bla bla... just for their cool looks?" Of course I know, you fool. When I hit someone's studio where got soomething like Virus or ProTools, I wish to hear something fresh, especially when he says "Oh I produce elec- tronics..." But you know that's not what you expect at all. There's always a myth in Taiwan's production scene: The ones who have the best tools don't know what the fxxk the electronic music is. They don't go clubbing, don't know how to produce a decent tune with a tight budget, don't know what's goin on in rave scene... BT is their only god and they just try to make their sound like that or, even worse, to color their pop shit with a trance or drum & bass edge... I believe if I play Calibre's tunes for them, they'll said "Oh, the sound quality is kind of poor... a little repeative... what a dull vocal... bla bla bla..." But Calibre kills. Moreover, his studio, according to MIST, is "the fxxking worst studio in this world." But who cares since his ideas are so good? I remember someone told me he was very unhappy about the ADAT resolution of 896 cos it's only 24bit/48khz. Well, I think "if you wanna produce dance tunes, why bother since your tunes will be pressed 2 be a piece of vinyl (that's 12bit/22khz)????" OK, thanks for listening to my bullsh*t.
