姓尼格洛龐帝的名人已不是很多，但是在當今米國台面上，便有兩位
一位是八月底突然變成很紅（對本地而言）的副國務卿John Negroponte，
1939年生於英國，1960年進入外交系統
1981年任駐宏都拉斯大使，2001年任聯合國代表，2004年出使伊拉克
2005年起任新設的國家情報部長，這是布希在2001年攻擊事件後的新措施之一
但是就像布希其他的政策，例如「國土安全部」一樣，備受懷疑和攻擊
好在他終於是離開了這個職位，今年起任副國務卿
這可是副國務卿喔，名字前面是deputy的，老大不在家的時候有完全的代理權
所以萊斯姨不在家的時候他就是老大了，真正的一號半人物
不是平常講話的次卿副助卿這些二號半或三號角色
另外一位是Nicholas Negroponte，麻省理工學院的電腦科學教授
撰有「數位時代」，創立Wired雜誌，有名言"Move bits, not atoms"
最近因為OLPC（百元電腦計畫；一人一電腦計畫）而再度聲名大噪
我曾經把他們兩個搞混過，而以上這些大都是知道的事了；
不過這兩人居然是兄弟，這倒是以前都不知道的 @@
