Demo關鍵群分別有三個是18-34、18-49、25-54,其中用來當標準的是
18-49,一般討論demo收視率都是指18-49這段年齡層,也是各大電視台
最重視的部分,因為這決定了絕大多數的廣告金收入。
另外,有些電視台會「額外」看更細分的demo收視率,比方CW電視台就
很看重18-34歲的女性觀眾這塊餅。

Nielsen Media Research also provides statistics on specific demographics
as advertising rates are influenced by such factors as age, gender, race,
economic class, and area. Younger viewers are considered more attractive
for many products, whereas in some cases older and wealthier audiences are
desired, or female audiences are desired over males.
In general, the number of viewers within the 18-49 age range is more important
than the total number of viewers.[4] According to Advertising Age, during the
2007-08 season, Grey's Anatomy was able to charge $419,000 per commercial,
compared to only $248,000 for a commercial during CSI, despite CSI having
almost five million more viewers on average.[5] Due to its strength in young
demos, Friends was able to charge almost three times as much for a commercial
as Murder, She Wrote, even though the two series had similar total viewer
numbers during the seasons they were on the air together.[4]
拿2007-2008季度的GA和CSI相比,儘管CSI平均收視人數大於GA的收視人數,
但GA的demo收視率的出色表現,讓節目每集廣告金達到$419,000(每30秒的
廣告收入),而CSI則是$248,000(受到同時段GA的打壓而被壓低)。
後面還舉了六人行和Murder, She Wrote的例子,六人行剛好與MSW後兩季一
起播出,雖然收視人數接近,但六人行廣告收入卻是MSW的三倍。
