        前幾篇才有人談到美國的迷信或禁忌，各位有沒有發現今天是十三號星
        期五呢？

        有關於十三號星期五的由來，大家可以上網去查一查。

        以下摘錄自 wikipedia 的定義：

        The origins of the Friday the 13th superstition has been linked to
        the fact there were 13 people at the last supper of Jesus, who was
        traditionally crucified on Good Friday, but it probably originated
        only in medieval times. It has also been linked to the fact that a
        lunisolar calendar must have 13 months in some years, while the
        solar Gregorian calendar and lunar Islamic calendar always have 12
        months in a year. Another suggestion is that the belief originated
        in a Norse myth about twelve gods having a feast in Valhalla. The
        mischievous Loki gatecrashed the party as an uninvited 13th guest
        and arranged for Hod, the blind god of darkness, to shoot Baldur,
        the god of joy and gladness, with a mistletoe-tipped arrow. Baldur
        was killed and the Earth was plunged into darkness and mourning as
        a result.

        Some also say that the arrest of Jaques de Molay, Grand Master of
        the Knights Templar, and 60 of his senior knights on Friday, October
        13, 1307 by King Philip IV of France is the origin of this
        superstition. That day thousands of Templars were arrested and
        subsequently tortured. They then 'confessed' and were executed. From
        that day on, Friday the 13th was considered by followers of the
        Templars as an evil and unlucky day.

        很好玩地，我想帶大家認識一個字。叫作 paraskevidekatriaphobia 或是
        paraskavedekatriaphobia。(注意 skevi 和 skave 的差異)

        你講啥？呵呵，別被它的外表嚇倒了。讓我們來猜字拆字一番吧。

        首先，我看到了 para 知道它是一個字根，然後我又看到了 deka，我的化
        學知識告訴我它代表十^^，然後是 tri，應該是三，最後 phobia 我知道
        是害怕的意思。

        沒錯，正確答案幾乎要出來了。這個字來自於希臘文，希臘文中的
        paraskave 或 paraskevi 就是星期五的意思，然後 dekatria 就是十三，
        加上字尾的 phobia 恐懼，合起來 paraskavedekatriaphobia 就是「十三
        號星期五恐懼症」，如果你要表達有這種毛病的人，只要把字尾的 phobia
        改成 phobic 即可 (形容詞/名詞)。就像糖尿病是 diabetes，而糖尿病患
        者是 diabetic 一樣。
