In his famous book Style: Ten Lessons in Clarity and Grace, Williams writes
that
“Occasionally, you can just delete words that repeat earlier ones:
[e.g.] It is sometimes possible to represent a complex idea in a simple
sentence, but more often you cannot represent a complex idea in the simplest
of the sentences.”
Well, could somebody kindly tell me in the above sentence, which word(s) is
omitted? I just cannot find the omitted word (lol).
