[文法]ing的問題

The majority, now, are dieting, using food substitutes in order to lose weight.

第一個問題：沒有複數的東西為什麼要用are

第二個問題：using是受到are的關係才會變成using嗎?

如果不是的話那麼跟using關係最密切的字是哪個字?

→ noruas:now 當插入語~~  後面using表示藉由...
