標題[請益] 這個句子的文法有問題嗎？

我們可以運用某種方法，幫自己解決生氣、憤怒的情況，
而這種方法可以自行運用、也可以找一個人 (facilitator) 幫忙；
a good facilitator will not need to shut the person (指其facilitate的對象)
down out of fear or anxiety,
because his or her empathetic abilities are so great,
such facilitators' having been to emotionally intense places themselves.
請問
下半句的
such facilitators' having been to emotionally intense places themselves，
這句子是不是怪怪的呢？
上半句是因為恐懼或焦慮而shut the person down的意思嗎？
而shut the person down又是什麼意思呢？
