我翻得不是很好，但是重點在如何以"句"而非以"字"為單位來理解

: 請問這句是
: "家長在收到大學錄取通知書的時候終於可以把心上的石頭放下來" 之類的意思嗎？
不是
"...家長望子女成龍鳳的焦慮在"大學入學"這場大賽中最為明顯"
差不多這意思
: 6. 前文是，家長為了讓大學的招生委員會留下好印象，
: 強行"徵用"青少年的學業生涯及私人生活，而且心裡會這樣子想：
: "I have to do it for him or it won't get done."
: "No, he can't take time off from Model United Nations to join film club.
: Everyone knows film club is code for 'slacker kid'."
我不插手他自己絕對不會做(出正確的選擇)
他不可以把排在"模擬聯合國"的時間挪去參加電影俱樂部，大家都知道電影俱樂部是
"遊手好閒"的代名詞
(也就是說只有不努力的小孩才會去參加電影俱樂部)
: 請問第一句是指做什麼呢？
: 這句沒頭沒尾的，我看不出來 it 是指特定的某件事情，
: 還是指家長可能會想幫孩子做的任何一件事情..
: 而第二句的 film club is code for "slacker kid"，又是為什麼呢？

they develop convictions, INTENTIONALLY UNLIKE YOURS 才是重點
...開始刻意發展出與父母不同的偏好...

he didn't [remember] and he hadn't [noticed]
didn't noticed 文法不通 所以要改為 hadn't
: 請問最後一句為什麼有 hadn't 呢？這一句不是跟上一句相對應嗎？
: 前一句是 I didn't... and I didn't...
: 為什麼最後一句會變成 he didn't and he hadn't 呢？
: 是因為句子如果變成 he didn't and he didn't，讀起來怪怪的嗎？
: 9. "I can't go to school with my hair like this.
: I look like the wrong kind of person."
: 請問 the wrong kind of person 是甚麼意思？
我會被人當成另類人物
(比如自己一直是走清純少女路線，這頭髮會讓人把她當成太妹等等)
: 10. "Fantastic. I would have no idea how to pull together a CD mix like that."
: 請問 CD mix 是指什麼呢？
把自己選的歌燒在一張CD上
: 11. "There was a time when a young person rose when an adult entered the room,

: 請問這裡的 to pick up a date 是甚麼意思呢？我查很久都查不出來..
