請問使用but甚麼時候該加逗點呢?
為什麼有時候要加，有時又不用加呢?
例子1:不加，
When Mr Ben Ali, newly installed as interior minister, ousted the ageing but
respected president in a palace coup in 1987, he was greeted as a needed
breath of fresh air.
例子2:加，
Some units did enter the capital, but refused to use force against
protesters, who greeted them with cheers.

推 Cordova:老師有說過加逗點是避免句子太長,中間略停,其可加或可不加 01/26 23:52
→ tengharold:跟but所帶入的意義有關。例一 but respected 01/27 00:05
→ tengharold:可看為 the aging/respected president，but帶入的東 01/27 00:07
→ tengharold:西很短，並且aging部分不會有逗號，所以but也沒有 01/27 00:08
→ tengharold:例二but帶入一整句，如果沒逗號會難看懂 01/27 00:09
推 heziying:例1本來有兩個逗號 ousted the ageing, but respected, 01/27 11:17
→ heziying:president 但在這句子裡不應該用這麼多逗號 不然好像一直 01/27 11:19
→ heziying:被打斷的感覺 01/27 11:19
