寫考題遇到困難,請各位高手幫忙

有variant 和different 這兩個選項,答案是different,
我查漢英字典,兩者的解釋都是"不同的"
而英英字典diverse:different from each other
variant:different in some way from others of the same kind
請問兩者的區別是什麼呢??
