I like dogs. -> 加強「喜歡的程度」 I like dogs very much
Your dog is annoying. -> 加強「討厭的程度」 Your dog is very (much) annoying.
既然兩個都顯出了「程度」，就能作比較：
As much as I like dogs, your dog is very annoying.
硬要翻成中文，就會變成類似
「我有多喜歡狗，你的狗就有多討人厭。」
這樣的奇怪句子。
所以 As much as we computer users hate to admit it,
password serves a vital function.
「電腦使用者不願意承認密碼很重要」的「程度」
and
「密碼具有重要功能」的「程度」
這兩者程度是一樣的。
This is as much as I can say in terms of deciphering this expression.
If you'd like to know how to translate it into Chinese, that's beyond me. XD
