Doctor Williams said he'd come to Zimbabwe with the hope of negotiating with
Mr Mugabe. He said he'd used the two-hour meeting to ask in the clearest
possible terms that the president use his powers as head of state to put an
end to all unacceptable and illegal behaviour. The encounter followed Doctor
Williams' pointed attack on Mr Mugabe's stewardship of Zimbabwe in a sermon
to some 15,000 Anglicans yesterday, in which he condemned the lawlessness
that characterised the way it was governed.

前面確實還有這一段，只是我想應該是沒有影響

我後來想想encounter是不是可以當作「這個交鋒」、「這個衝突」來翻?
因為文中有提到他尖銳的批評這位總統，
如你所說確實有帶點hostile的意味


那"in which"這邊是在指前面的encounter嗎?

抱歉,因為代名詞前何時該加介系詞的這個文法我一直沒搞懂...


最後那句話仍在會意當中...

另外－characterised the way it was governed－這裡邊有省略掉什麼東西嗎?
