[請益] an exotic with too much stain

有一位猶太作者提到家裡過安息日晚餐的方式：

   We use silver instead of the weekday utensils. We put flowers on the table.
   We serve wine and grape juice -- an exotic with too much sugar and stain
   potential to be aregular weekday staple in our house. We dress up and
   invite a guest or two.

請問，

1. 這裡是在說葡萄汁很甜、很多 stain，很容易令人上癮、變成天天喝嗎？
   (這位作者有時會突然幽默一下，我不大確定她這裡是不是也在開玩笑...)

2. too much stain 是指什麼呢？
   字典裡說是 a special liquid that is used to change the color of something
              (such as wood or cloth)

   我原本猜想難道是指人工色素嗎，不過人工色素不是 artificial pigment 嗎？
