For semantic reasons, the sentence allows only the nonagentive interpretation.
The fact that (3.64a) is unacceptable shows that the subject John, which is
neither an agent nor an experiencer, cannot trigger reflexivization. In
contrast, the object NP in the nonagentive x reminds y of w, which is
semantically an experiencer NP, can trigger reflexivization, as shown below:
(3.65a) John reminded Mary of a younger version of herself.
(3.65b) (x) John reminded Mary of a younger version of her.
