標題[請益] 閱讀短文，遇到介系詞的困擾

David Lo’s strategy can benefit other job seekers. Lo, a graduate student,
prepares carefully for an interview. First, he tries to find out as much as
he can about the company. Then he chooses his shirts and ties accordingly. “
For IBM, I dressed very conservatively: white shirt, striped tie, black
shoes. But for Andersen Consulting, I wore an indigo shirt and a purple
striped tie. It differs based on what I think they are expecting and the
company’s reputation.” Lo’s is a smart strategy because companies want to
hire employees who are “ their kind of people.”

由於文章過於冗長，這只是裡面的一小段。
我問題的癥結在於介系詞
問題1: For IBM, I dressed very conservatively: 這裡的For該怎麼解似?
問題2: But for Andersen Consulting, I wore an indigo….. 這裡的for該怎麼解似?
綜合問題1與2:如何才能根除我目前的困擾，文法書中的介系詞篇?
問題3: It differs based on what I think they are expecting and the company’s

differs v.
based on 動詞片語
以上假設有錯嗎?
要是我的假設無誤 differs 與 based on 一個是動詞一個是動詞片語
這兩個字當中是不是要多加一個”關代”來區隔differs 與 based on ??
