在英文書信中，用「Dear someone, 」作為開頭是很常見的，
特別是用在「不是你的朋友」、「你的同事」、「你的客戶」，
在這裡，中文翻譯並不是「親愛的某某某」，
而是「尊敬的某某某」or「敬愛的某某某」，是一種表正式的用法。
又或者，你和某個朋友的感情只是泛泛之交時，也可以用「dear xxx, 」。
是你的熟人，好友，親人，開頭請不要用「dear xxx, 」
因為這通常是發生什麼重大變故時才會用，
例如：要分手了，家裡有人怎樣了....
(所以有一所曲子叫作Dear John.....)
那給熟人的信要怎麼寫呢？
就用Hi, Hey，或是直接叫名字就好了。
同理，正式書信的結尾會用best regards，
但是給朋友的就用BR就好了。
