標題[文法] 該如何分辨,後的動詞型態?

B 24. High above the city, on a tall (A) column, (B) standing the statue of

the Happy Prince. He was (C) gilded all over with thin (D) leaves of
fine gold.
此題 standing 應改成 stood
我有兩個疑惑想請教:
(1)這題為什麼要使用 stood ，看了許久，還是不知道原因 >"<
(2) 我發現" , "後接的動詞型態，有時候是Ving ；有時候是過去進行式;有時候是被動;
有時候是過去式，請問到底要怎麼判斷 " , " 後接的動詞型態到底是哪一個呢??
麻煩為我解惑，感恩^__^

→ BLUEMILTON:這樣一來就知道主詞是The statue of the Happy Prince 10/21 08:04
→ BLUEMILTON:動詞是stood 10/21 08:04
→ TouchAgain:如果是standing那第一句就沒動詞囉 第一句是倒裝句 10/21 19:45
