大家都知道AND要對等，於是有兩種情況。
1. finish cleaning the room and (finish) placing the Chinese...
2. finish cleaning the room and place the Chinese...
如果是第一種:
"place當"放置"這個用法不適合+ing。因為他是一個achievement verb."
例如你不會說*I am recognizing her.
*I am finding(找到) her.
*I am winning the game.
*I am spotting my friend.
因為他們的動作起點和終點幾乎是同時的。
回到題目，當你要做"放置"(place)的動作，你馬上就可以完成放置的動作，
所以你無法正在放置。因此你也無法正在recognizing, finding, winning, spotting
如果是第二種:
很清楚
如果是原po提的placed。
這樣就變成place the Chinese...不這麼的had to了。語意上有一點不同。如下。
"?Jim必須要打掃完房間，然後他就把春聯貼上"。語意上有點奇怪。
