凡是有用到關係詞的句子都可以拆成兩句，所以在這個例子中可以分成...
˙第一句：Police have discovered several cases.
˙第二句：In the cases owners of shops have reported large robberies and
then tried to claim back the cost of the stolen goods from their
insurance companies.（我想原po會想不透應該也是因這句話落落長吧？
所以硬要「拉關係」的話，就只有"cases"的部分兩句都有
當然用關代，which代掉的也只是cases而已
除了無關緊要的定冠詞the去掉外；合併以後，第二句的部分也就只是照抄而已
這句就這麼產生了。
關係詞的部分多少一定得花時間才會搞懂
光只是硬背，也只是治標不治本而已...
