[求譯] for the evening

[Widder8 (維德八)]

Longman辭典搭配詞裡有這樣的用法和例句：
Her parents had gone out for the evening.

牛津辭典的例句是：
She's going to her sister's for the evening.

在敦煌的試閱書中也看到這樣的句子：
Mr and Mrs Brown are going out for the evening.
Their house is now empty.

我本來的猜測是"for the evening"是去吃晚餐，
後來又查了for的用法，有個for+特定時間點表示某事預定在那個時間點發生的意思，
所以在想for the evening"是不是「預訂在晚上做什麼」的意思，
一直不是很確定是什麼意思、並將這些句子翻譯通順，
所以想請教一下大家的意見。

另外，牛津那個例句to her sister's是指sister的什麼呢？

請問一下，那它跟用in the evening的差別，是在於有沒有強調事先安排好嗎？
