在 ESL-LAB 讀到一個句子

Driving around town with my dad is such a drag because he is always
telling me what to do.

想請教 town 的部份，為什麼不需要冠詞 the town 呢

另一個字典的例句是 We're going to town this Saturday. 也是沒有冠詞

請問這屬於哪種特定的文法或用法嗎？
