連結是CNN的一篇文章，在講一位女演員/前選美小姐遇害的新聞
太久沒碰文法了，有點忘了
裡面有幾個地方我不懂，想請教版友們

第3段:
Spear and her ex-husband, Thomas Henry Berry, were driving in Venezuela's
Carabobo state Monday night when their car broke down, officials said. Armed
robbers opened fire, killing both of them.
最後一句是武裝搶匪開火，殺了他們二人
請問原句是應該是 Armed robbers opened fire and killed both of them嗎?
為何可以這樣省略呢? 還是另有文法解釋?

第5段:
"It is presumed that the motive was robbery," Venezuelan Justice Minister
Miguel Rodriguez Torres said. "We are still investigating.There are five
people detained who are being interrogated."
最後一句不太懂要怎麼翻，是指說 "有5位被拘留的人正在被審問"嗎?
detained前面是不是有省略"who were"?
整句的動詞在 There are 這，但後面的被動及省略我看不太懂
如果不省略的話，原句該怎麼寫呢?

第13段:
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called the killing a massacre and said
more needed to be done to put a stop to violence.
這句話請問這樣翻譯對嗎? (翻的很不順)
總統稱此為屠殺，並說需要作更多事來停止暴力
needed在more後，所以是形容詞，可是後面接了to be done 我就卡住了
to be doen在我認知是"待作"，在此是有另外含意?
