標題may i ask a question in a self-learning book

There is an example :
"I can not believe it! My no-good brother actually GOT a job and haircut."
here is my question....
Is the verb "got" right in grammar?
Should it be present tense after the adverb "actually"?
Or there's some exception in grammar that I do not know?
