The Executive Mistake to Avoid: “Gotta” “Our sales numbers are declining. We gotta find a way to improve” This word is used so much that it seems fine to use anywhere in any situation. It is acceptable in speaking, but “gotta” is best avoided in formal writing such as emails and other documents. Executives still prefer and look for some professionalism, and that is not about to change.
