[考題] besides的用法

Parents and teenagers often debate whether high school students should have a
part-time job in addition to focusing on their studies. I think it’s a good
idea for high school students to work a few hours a week. This will allow them
to learn a sense of responsibility, __42__ earning some extra spending money.

想請教為何2不行呢？

這(打工)將允許他們(學生)學習責任感，除了賺得一些額外的零用錢之外。

感覺用besides，在翻譯上與文法上這樣並無不妥。

大家覺得呢？
