Today when I was on my way to the downtown, passing the intersection I saw a young man, about 20, looking woolgathering, standing by the roadside with his eyes fixed in nowhere. He was in his uniform, which revealed that he might be in his alternative military service as a traffic cop, ironically giving no slightest movement even when the signals changed. He stood there doing nothing, as if he was a statue, only the blast from the motorcycles passing by that flapped his clothes reminded me he's alive. Then, I thought why he had to stand there idling away his time like that. Was it because that's his obligation to pay his respect to the country? Or was he protesting silently against the violation to his free will? Why would people insist having eye candys placed on each intersection, rather than relocating these people to a more profitable post? I didn't understand the purpose of putting reluctant students into useless position like this. Are they victims anyway? -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.172.189.228
