[Notice] New board rules, please read!

Hi everyone!

It's great to see some excellent discussion on EngTalk recently.

Generally, I would like to encourage people to raise any issue that they like

in English, and to have EngTalk as a free forum for everyone to enjoy.

However, I would like to remind you of some basic rules that I would appreciate

you all to keep in mind when posting an article:


* Please try and avoid using language that is likely to offend people.

  Do not use swear words if you can. (Sparingly used to express your own

  emotions may be ok)

* Please do not purposely insult or make unnecessary personal

  attacks on other board members.


* This is an English board, so please do not use Chinese words in your post.

  If you really don't know the English word, it's ok to put the Chinese word

  in bracket, and politely ask boardmates for assistance.


* This board is designed for the purpose of free chatting in English.

  It is NOT a board to ask questions on English grammar, sentence structure,

  translations etc. For any questions that you may have with regard to your

  English homework or studies, please refer to the board Eng-Class.


* Advertisements for pen pals, people to chat with on MSN and Skype are

  welcome. You are allowed to set criteria of the people that you would like

  to meet, but please be polite.


* While discussions between members are encouraged, matters relating strictly

  to a personal dispute should NOT be posted on EngTalk.


* While you are more than welcome to share links to English articles and

  books, please avoid breaching copyright laws.  Copying and pasting of

  large quantities of copyright material without authorisation is

  unacceptable and such posts will be deleted.


If you post in violation of the rules, your post will be deleted and a

notification sent to you. Depending on the seriousness of the breach, you may

also receive a warning. In the extreme case of ignored repeated warnings,

you might be prohibited from posting for a period of time.


Finally, if you find that your post has been deleted, and have questions or

comments, please feel free to reply the notification letter sent to you by

mail, and we will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may

have. Please do not discuss a deleted post on board.


I would like to thank you all for reading this, and for your support in

EngTalk. We are always delighted to see enthusiastic discussions on the

board. ^^
