I would recommand novel series written by Robin Hobb
which are The Farseer Trilogy,
Liveship Trader Trilogy,
and The Tawny Man.
I tried to type some introduction, but I found that the wiki page

All I can say is, these are truely fascinating stories.
First I bought the chinese version, but then I couldn't wait for
it and rushed to PageOne in Taipei 101 and bought the Eng ver.
Try it if you have some time in the bookstore. ^^
