forget about it
just learn a language any way you like
for example
if you want to have more friends who speak native English
then you practice speaking more
but if you just want to read scientific papers in English
then you spend more time reading
take myself as an example
i can read a little French
but i can't speak
and i don't care
i just want to be able to read news and papers wriiten in French
